This is my response to Steeve Lunckers' work. Although Steeve Luncker didn't do exactly what I did, there are some similarities within mine and his work. He does more of a typology based portfolio that has a man smoking a cigarette and the different stages of him smoking it. I thought this was quite interesting and decided to expand on my photos that I did of hands by putting in an object as well. I thought that a cigarette was appropriate because it makes the photo a lot more interesting and it fits with the big hands and the dirt under the nails. I think the smoke coming from the cigarette is effective too because it gives that element of fluidity within the photo. I edited the pictures into black and white because it makes them look older and like there's a story behind them. I don't have a particular favourite out of these three photos because I think they all go together really nicely. Overall, I think this was a really good shoot and I got some great photos out of it. The photos tell a story and have a history behind them.

Steeve Luncker
Steeve Luncker is a French photographer who took lots of photos of a persons face and put it into a typology layout. I like the bottom set of these photos because of the cigarette that he is smoking and I wanted to take that element and put it into my work. I like the way you can see the smoke and you can see him lighting the cigarette. It shows a story of his life and shows a lot about who he is as a person. In my response to this I will not be showing the face but just the cigarette in a persons hand.

These photos are in response to ... I got my sister to stand in lots of different places with her feet in the exact same position. You can see the details of the backs of her feet which makes the photo look better. I also like the fact that she has a blister on the back of her foot with makes the photo more interesting and also makes it more obvious that they are the same feet in each photo.
I think this shoot went very well as you can tell they are the same feet in the same position but just in different places. It shows a journey of the feet and shows a story within the photos of the places she has been.
Nicos Philippou
Nicos Philippou is a photographer who lives and works in Cyprus and he did a series where he worked on the Easter bonfires around the country of Cyprus. He captured the same shape of the bonfire in every picture but they where all in different places. It makes for a very good piece of typography looking at the slight changes in each photo and following the same shape of bonfire around Cyprus.
I like his work because I think its interesting how you can have the same type of thing looking exactly the same in different places. I am going to take this into consideration when doing my response to this.

This is my response to Adrienne M. Norman's work. She takes pictures of peoples imperfections and illnesses and shows them in a dramatic way. I wanted to do a photo shoot of someone with an abnormality on their face but I couldn't get anyone who has one. However, one of my friends has this pigmentation on her back and I thought it would make for a good photo. Along with some editing that made the pigmentation stand out more, the photos have turned out really well and shows the imperfection well.
Adrienne M. Norman
Adrienne M. Norman is a photographer based in Amsterdam who took photos of different people with skin abnormalities. I think its really interesting because you get to see what different abnormalities there are and you can see that the people live a normal life even though they don't look normal. this makes the photos even more interesting.

These photos are in response to Ann Mandelbaums photos of the necks. I decided to look at the skin of different people and see how different it actually is. I took photos of 4 different peoples arms and they where all completely different. This shows how unique people are and how no one is the same at all and we all have our own identity. I really like them because although the photos are interesting because of the detail they are also disgusting for that same reason.
I think this shoot was very successful as it shows the uniqueness of different people and how different they are on the outside even though we may not see it.
Ann Mandelbaum continued
These are another series from Ann Mandelbaum where she takes photos of old peoples necks which have been processed through the dark room and look very interesting. It makes the necks look like an ash cloud just after a volcano has erupted. I really like them for this reason as it makes the photos a lot more interesting and it makes you look at human figures and features in a different way.

This is my response to Ann Mandelbaums photos. I took photos of different peoples eyes and from different angles which made for some really interesting photos. I like the top photo because of how detailed it is and the camera I have used and captured the winkles around the eye. You can see into the pupil and you can see the creases in the skin. I like the bottom photo as well because it shows the face from a different angle and the eyelashes are the main thing that's in focus.
Overall I think this shoot went really well because of the detailing and the focus of the camera on the skin. I edited them to make them slightly more broad.
Ann Mandelbaum
Ann Mandelbaum is a German photographer who focuses on her body and others as well. She looks at the details and she uses the darkroom to process her photos in. I like her photos because of the angles she takes her photos from and also the detail of the skin around the eye in the top photo. I also like the fact that the photos she takes are not of perfect skin and eyes but they are of old people and young children not perfect models.

This is my response to John Coplans' photos. He took photos of his own hands which are wrinkly and have character to them and so I took that idea and I took photos of my families hands with a very good camera which picked up the details of the skin and the hair on the hands.
I think this shoot is very successful as you can see the detailing and the character of these hands. I like the fact that the hands aren't perfect and there are imperfections on all of them which makes the hands more unique. My favourite photo is the top one because it has a lot of detail and I like the colouring of it, the fact that it is darker. You can see the creases in the skin which makes the photo very interesting.
John Coplans
John Coplans was born in 1920 and recently died in 2003. He was a British artist and a photographer and he did self portraits which are really interesting because he shows the details of himself such as the wrinkles on his body and face. I have decided to look specifically at his photographs of hands.
I think his photos his own hands are very powerful and show that there is a story behind the hands and that they have been through a lot. With him being in the war you can only imagine what he has done with those hands. This makes the photos more interesting and personal. Hands can say so much about a person. You can get well kept hands with nail polish and no wrinkles or you can get muddy and dirty old hands. Both show a story about the person and you can guess from their hands, what kind of background they have.

This is my response to Erica Baum's photos of the different parts of different peoples faces put together. I wanted to take that element of putting peoples faces together to make them look like one face but I made it so that you could tell that there are different people in the photo and not that it is just one persons face. I also made my photos more modern rather than making them look old because I wanted to capture the modernism and what people look like now.
I also wanted to make sure that the quality of the photos were good by getting the right lighting and making the detail stand out. I think this shoot was quite successful as it shows close ups of different parts of the face and you can see the detailing in the faces.
Erica Baum
Erica Baum is an American photographer who lives and works in New York. She was born in 1961 and is still creating some brilliant work. I particularly like these photos that she did that are shown above. I think it's really interesting how different parts of different peoples human faces put together can actually look like a real person.
I also like the fact that she has made the photos look old and from the olden days. I think it gives the photo more character and makes it have a story behind it. I think most people would look at this photo and maybe think it had something to do with the war and that these three people have story to tell about their lives and their past.
