Response

This is my response to Ann Mandelbaums photos. I took photos of different peoples eyes and from different angles which made for some really interesting photos. I like the top photo because of how detailed it is and the camera I have used and captured the winkles around the eye. You can see into the pupil and you can see the creases in the skin. I like the bottom photo as well because it shows the face from a different angle and the eyelashes are the main thing that's in focus.

Overall I think this shoot went really well because of the detailing and the focus of the camera on the skin. I edited them to make them slightly more broad.

Ann Mandelbaum

Ann Mandelbaum is a German photographer who focuses on her body and others as well. She looks at the details and she uses the darkroom to process her photos in. I like her photos because of the angles she takes her photos from and also the detail of the skin around the eye in the top photo. I also like the fact that the photos she takes are not of perfect skin and eyes but they are of old people and young children not perfect models.

This is my response to John Coplans' photos. He took photos of his own hands which are wrinkly and have character to them and so I took that idea and I took photos of my families hands with a very good camera which picked up the details of the skin and the hair on the hands.

I think this shoot is very successful as you can see the detailing and the character of these hands. I like the fact that the hands aren't perfect and there are imperfections on all of them which makes the hands more unique. My favourite photo is the top one because it has a lot of detail and I like the colouring of it, the fact that it is darker. You can see the creases in the skin which makes the photo very interesting.

John Coplans

John Coplans was born in 1920 and recently died in 2003. He was a British artist and a photographer and he did self portraits which are really interesting because he shows the details of himself such as the wrinkles on his body and face. I have decided to look specifically at his photographs of hands.

I think his photos his own hands are very powerful and show that there is a story behind the hands and that they have been through a lot. With him being in the war you can only imagine what he has done with those hands. This makes the photos more interesting and personal. Hands can say so much about a person. You can get well kept hands with nail polish and no wrinkles or you can get muddy and dirty old hands. Both show a story about the person and you can guess from their hands, what kind of background they have.

Response

This is my response to Erica Baum's photos of the different parts of different peoples faces put together. I wanted to take that element of putting peoples faces together to make them look like one face but I made it so that you could tell that there are different people in the photo and not that it is just one persons face. I also made my photos more modern rather than making them look old because I wanted to capture the modernism and what people look like now.

I also wanted to make sure that the quality of the photos were good by getting the right lighting and making the detail stand out. I think this shoot was quite successful as it shows close ups of different parts of the face and you can see the detailing in the faces.
